Trigger #1 “Work Skills and Competences of an IB Graduate”.
Have you ever wondered what would be expected form you as an International Business graduate? or, maybe what kind of traits from an IB major would be appealing to a company? This topic is something that should go through the mind of every student for this path and also should be a thought worth considering for anyone about to enroll in a program like this.
This is why I have tried to compile a bit of information of this topic so I and others wondering about the same thing can have bit of insight on the matter.
First of all, an International Business graduate should be ver clear on their passion for what they do and have an ethical and correct motivation to carry on any path for their lives. This leads to people having a positive approach on the discipline and professionalism they must display later in the work field.
Employment rates for Business graduates:
According to an article published by Luminate Prospects UK, “Graduates from business and administrative subjects are sought after by employers for graduate training schemes due to the broad knowledge, skills, and expertise developed during their studies. This is reflected in the 2016/17 DLHE data and the percentage of graduates in full-time employment six months after their degree. This ranges from 58% for economics graduates to 70.7% for marketing graduates. These figures are higher than the average of 55.2% for graduates from all subjects in full-time employment.
The percentages for graduates from business and administrative subjects who were unemployed and due to start work were:

5.2% for marketing graduates
5.4% for hospitality, leisure, tourism, and transport graduates
5.6% for business and management graduates
6.1% for finance and accountancy graduates
6.3% for economics graduates.
Business Graduates should display different traits to be appealing for companies and find good opportunities in the work environment. Skills such as:
Sense Making
Social Intelligence
Novel and Adaptive Thinking
Cross Cultural Competency
Computational Thinking
New Media Literacy
Transdisciplinarity
Design Mindset
Cognitive Load Management and
Virtual Collaboration

This skills are very important and developing them can help students and graduates make smart and sometimes maybe even interesting/weird decisions in business that might end up saving their project.
Such is the case of Steve Jobs (Founder and former CEO of Apple Inc.) to ask their main competidor Bill Gates (Founder and CEO of Microsoft) for an investment that would save his company at the time.
Jobs understood that making a move as risky and criticizable as that one wouldn’t make him weak instead it could propel both his business and the industry he belonged to; just like this Business majors should strive to be open-minded people who ethically can bring every project they are involved with to success and therefore become very valuable assets for any company. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/29/steve-jobs-and-bill-gates-what-happened-when-microsoft-saved-apple.html
